His Eminence Sayyid Muqtada al-Sadr meets Mr. Jan Kubic, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations

Within the relentless and constant pursuit for his Eminence Hujjat Islam and Muslims Sayyid Muqtada al Sadr  in order to find and from a national government of independent technocrats, take responsibility to make a qualitative leap in the economy of the country and the prosperity of the citizens and provide  services to them. In this context, His Eminence , at his residence in Baghdad , met  the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of  United Nations in Iraq, Mr. Jan Kubic on Wednesday, 23 May 2018. After Mr. Kubic was briefed on the vision of His Eminence for the post-election stage and the form of government. The envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations said that this visit comes ahead of the preparation of the special report on Iraq, which is hoped to be presented to the United Nations at a later date. His Eminence Mr. Moqtada al-Sadr presented to Mr. Kubic the latest discussions and dialogues on the formation of the next government, expressing the hope that the understandings and discussions will lead to the formation of a national government to support the process of stability in the country.

During the meeting, the envoy also extended his congratulations on the success of the recent democratic process in Iraq, announcing the readiness of the United Nations to provide Iraq with  assistance that it is needed.

For his part, His Eminence Sayyid Muqtada al Sadr  said that his vision for the next phase comes from a popular desire and the necessity of the stage because the Iraqi people have suffered a lot of corruption and poor services, reiterating that the decision must be a national, Iraqi. His Eminence stressed the importance of increasing the support and back up of the international community and the United Nations to exit Iraq from the tunnel of sectarianism and the abhorrent quotas and prevent interference in the file of the elections by  government and regional His Eminence also stressed the need to provide support in the humanitarian and service in the liberated areas, especially the city of Mosul and the contribution of international organizations to take Iraq to its natural situation in a free and decent life.
